What is a staycation?
A staycation, is typically defined as a vacation to a destination that is no more than a three-hour drive from home.
Why would i choose a nearby staycation?
Ummmmm… The Global Pandemic. But if you need additional convincing, I am here for that too. For one, it’s affordable. Don’t even think about purchasing the expensive plane tickets. With a staycation you’re good to go with a full tank of gas (if that) to get you to your destination.
You won’t feel as though you need a vacation from your vacation once it’s all over. Consider the rest and relaxation aspect. Not many of us get the chance to take the time to explore the towns that we may be slightly familiar with. Now is the time to let go of the itinerary, all of the researching and planning, and finally unplug stress-free.

Both the American Hotel & Lodging Association and Vacation Rental Management Association have released best practice guidelines and standards.
Strategy for a safe stay
Once you’ve determined the management is doing all it can, you need to do all you can to minimize exposure. Wear a face covering and practice social distancing in common areas. Minimize time in enclosed, less ventilated spaces, like elevators. Avoid contact with “high-touch” surfaces in shared spaces, like the elevator call button, door handles, and dining tables and chairs; they are less likely to have been disinfected between each individual’s touch. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer after spending time in common areas. If gyms and pools are open, remember to social distance, wear your mask, and wipe down equipment before and after use.

Recently Benjamin and I decided that instead of venturing off on a trip maybe we should do something more local to celebrate our Anniversary. We ultimately came to the decision that a staycation would be perfect. The Nylo Plano was an amazing stay, even in the mist of the Pandemic. Not only did we feel extremely safe, but we were able to have our best dood (Merlot, our Goldendoodle) celebrate with us.
The Nylo recently completed renovations to the already welcoming property. We will definitely be booking again to enjoy some of their amazing amenities that we did not have the pleasure of utilizing during our stay due to safety reasons. Please note, some hotel services may not be available or may be limited during your visit. According to the updates on their site, the following services and amenities are available, but with reduced service: Breakfast, Pool. The following services and amenities are currently not available: Business Center, Fitness Center, On-site Restaurant(s), Room Service.
